This Note is from the 5th Issue of the Fractional Currency (or Postage Currency) series. Comes in Fine or Better Condition.
Fractional Currency also known as postage currency was first issued in 1862 as a response to widespread hoarding of small change during the Civil War. This fifth issue features a red seal and a portrait of Treasury Secretary Robert J. Walker on the obverse.
Printed in five separate issues, Fractional Currency circulated up until 1876 as has proved to be very popular with collectors.
